Online Competitive Threat Analysis
clear

Find Out How Your Business Performs Online Against Your Main Competitors!

When embarking upon an effort to improve your SERP (search engine results page) listings through an online marketing campaign, it's extremely helpful to start with an objective and quantifiable benchmark from which you can measure progress as you make improvements over time. The 111 Web Studio online competitive threat analysis measures your web site against your major competitors so you can not only see how your online profile compares to theirs, but more importantly what digital marketing steps you can take to separate yourself from the pack and raise your profile above theirs.

Our competitive threat analysis generates a Benchmark SCOR (Strategic Competitive Online Result) which compares you and your competitors in as many as eight critical areas of study, as well as an SEV (Search Engine Visibility) Report. This produces a well rounded snapshot that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each online presence and generates a prioritized list of action items that will be used to make improvements and raise your site's position on search engine listings.

An initial Benchmark SCOR and SEV are developed through our Phase I Analysis which also provides the action items needed for improving your online marketing efforts. We may or may not recommend additional Phase II Analysis work to fully detail your SCOR. If recommended, a Phase II Analysis may investigate new areas of concern uncovered in Phase I and / or may dive deeper into an area already covered. It may also investigate additional competition if necessary. Because each client will need a different level of study, the time required for a Phase II analysis will differ from client to client. We can also follow-up with Assessment SCOR and SEV Analyses which are done some time after Benchmarking recommendations have been implemented and search engines have had a chance to react to the changes. The Assessment SCOR and SEV Analyses not only have the benefit of measuring improvements in your own online profile, but also defines any changes made by your competitors over time.

If you think an Online Competitive Threat Analysis would benefit your business and would like to know more about it, please give us a call at 877.397.7605 or contact 111 Web Studio for more information.

Latest 111 News
clear

As usual, we have been hard at work improving our Build111 and Church111 website building platforms based on feedback from customers, from developers who use it and from our own team. A couple of the handier recent updates are noted here.

Quicker Editing

One of the latest improvements is a quicker way to make a navigation page visible on your site. Now, instead of going into the specific page editor and clicking "visible" equals "Yes," you can simply check a box on the pages listing. Pretty nifty, eh? I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner!

Mobile Friendly Design

Another improvement is related to responsive design which makes it easier to have your site work properly on all screen sizes from desktop to mobile devices. The media page type has been rebuilt with more responsive friendly code so it works better than ever on mobile platforms.

Improved Security

1) Now your admin login is forced to use encryption so your communications with site management are more secure than ever. In addition to password protection, you now have https everywhere in 111 so that access to sensitive data is now secure.

2) Also, we added Google ReCaptcha to blogs comments in order to give administrators another metod to further prevent spam comments from being entered by spam robots.

3) Lastly, our servers have been upgraded to use the latest security related updates so that SSL related issues won't effect the security of visitors to your website, even if they are using old browsers with poor security.

Tax on Shipping

For all you shopping cart users out there, we added a toggle in your eCommerce cart admin area so you can elect to charge tax on shipping. Some states require this and some do not. Check your tax authorities to be sure.

As always, we welcome feedback from you on other ways to improve the 111 CMS (content management system) website builder. If you have any questions or comments or if you'd like to know more about how to make your website mobile friendly or just better looking, give us a call at 877.397.7605 or contact us for more information.

FREAK Attack on Apple and Android Devices
clear

Here we go again... Back in the 90s, the US government thought they were being clever by making it illegal to export software with more than 512 byte encryption keys, which were considered good enough twenty years ago. As a result, websites were designed to step down below 512 if a visitor showed up with a browser that didn't support higher levels of encryption. As it turns out, if you are using a browser that still supports the old encryption level, hackers and bad guys can interrupt the connection between you and say, your bank, right before https is established and drop it down to a level of encryption that they can hack to get your login credentials. They still have to unencrypt your credentials, but today, this can easily be done with maybe an hour of computing time.

In particular, this flaw is seen on several mobile browsers including the one on my new Samsung S5, so be sure to check yours before visiting any sites that require a secure login.

The attack on a flaw in OpenSSL and Apple's SecureTransport effects some versions of Safari and Android browsers has been labeled FREAK (Factoring RSA Export Keys).

What can you do?

You can check to see if your web browser is vulnerable by visiting freakattack.com. If it is, you must make sure you don't visit any sites requiring a login until you update the browser.

Also, if you host your website with us, you can be confident in the knowedge that we have our servers fully updated such that your site won't allow the use of old encryption even if a vulnerable browser visits it.

If you have any questions about this, a new website design or getting found on search engines, give us a call at 877.397.7605 or contact us for more information.
